Phansidewa, 23rd November: One person died by self-immolation in Ghoshpukur of Phansidewa block under Siliguri sub-divisional council, on Tuesday. The incident created a stir in the area. The deceased has been identified as Bhushan Lakra (41).
It has been learned that the locals sighted smoke coming out of Lakra’s house this morning. They broke into the house and found him lying dead. The police were informed. Ghoshpukur outpost police reached the spot shortly after.
Police recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. Police are investigating the whole incident.
