Kharibari, 20th August: A person died after being hit by a train in Panitanki Gaursingh Jote area under Kharibari block. The deceased has been identified as Phoolbabu (35). He was a resident of Bengai Jote of Naxalbari.
According to sources, the local people heard a loud noise of the train late on Friday night. When they rushed to the spot to find out the reason behind it, they found the dead body of a person lying near the tracks.
Cops of Panitanki Outpost reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. A team of GRP also reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Police are probing the entire incident.
