Man chops off wife’s hand to stop her from taking a govt job in Purba Bardhaman

Kolkata, 06th June: In a heart-chilling case of jealousy or a mere inferiority complex, a man chopped off his wife’s hand to stop her from joining a state government nursing job. The accused have been identified as Sher Mohammad, a resident of Ketugram in Purba Bardhaman district, and the victim as Renu Khatun.


As per the reports, Renu Khatun was attacked while she was sleeping. After the incident, Sher Mohammad took her to Katwa Sub-Divisional Hospital but left behind the mutilated hand to make sure that the doctors are unable to reattach it. After admitting her to the hospital, Sher Mohammad fled away from the scene and his family is allegedly in hiding.


According to Renu Khatun’s family member, she was under nursing training and was working as an assistant nurse in a private hospital. When she received her appointment letter for state government nursing job, he husband Sher Mohammad grew jealous and feared that she would leave him as he was unemployed. Police are probing the whole incident.
