Siliguri, 14th September: In a horrifying incident, a man has been accused of attempting to rape his own daughter. The incident surfaced from the Patan Tea Garden area near Simulbari. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, the Siliguri Women’s Police arrested the accused on Sunday night.
According to police sources, an elephant entered the aforementioned tea garden, 3 days ago. Following which, the locals stepped out of their residences. Grabbing the opportunity, the accused man attempted to rape his 16-year-old daughter who was home alone. However, as soon as she started shouting for help, he fled away from the scene.
The minor then lodged a written complaint against her father at the Matigara police station, on Sunday night. Based on the allegations, the police started an investigation into the incident and arrested the accused father from the Patan Tea Garden area last night.
On the basis of the minor’s complaint, the police filed a case against the accused father under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was produced at the Siliguri court today.
Apart from conducting a medical examination of the minor victim, the police have started an investigation of the whole incident.
