Siliguri, 30th July: Siliguri Women Police Station arrested a man for allegedly engaging in a physical relationship with a tenant woman on the promise of marriage and later allegedly cheating her.
The accused has been identified as Biplab Sarkar (29), a resident of Mahamaya Colony in Ward No. 47 of Siliguri.
According to police, the woman lodged a complaint at the Women Police Station on the July 14. In her complaint, she alleged that the accused engaged in a physical relationship with her multiple times after promising marriage and later deceived her. She also alleged that the accused threatened and followed her.
During the investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly gone absconding after the complaint was filed. However, acting on information, police arrested him from his residence on Wednesday night.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and he was produced before the court on Thursday. Police are investigating the matter.
