Siliguri, 01st March: In a shocking incident, a man was arrested for engaging in physical relations with a woman based on the false promise of marriage in Siliguri. The accused has been identified as Somnath Das, a resident of Shantinagar.
As per the details gathered, the accused Somnath was a cook by profession and worked with a widow for a long time. During this, the accused Somnath and the woman developed a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, the accused repeatedly engaged in intimacy with the woman under the deception of marriage. As a result, the woman was impregnated and urged the accused to marry her.
However, upon being denied marriage, the woman engaged in an altercation with the accused and filed a written complaint against Somnath Das at the NJP police station on Thursday. The police arrested the accused based on the complaint. The accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri Court while the incident is being further investigated.
