Man arrested for allegedly killing his wife in Siliguri, investigation underway

Siliguri, 21st January: A distressing incident has come to light where a husband has been arrested for killing his wife in the Halermatha area of Shivmandir under the jurisdiction of the Matigara police station. The accused Sumit Saha has been taken into police custody. The deceased homemaker has been identified as Suman Saha.


According to reports, Suman Saha’s maternal sister-in-law stated that Suman and Sumit were romantically involved before their marriage in 2010 and were survived by a daughter. However, within a few years of their marriage, Suman was subjected to physical and mental abuse by her husband and in-laws.

Meanwhile, Sumit affirmed over the phone that on Saturday night Suman had suffered a stroke and was admitted to a private hospital located in Matigara. Upon hearing the news, Suman’s father, brother, sister-in-law, and other relatives arrived at the hospital, where they discovered that Suman was dead upon arrival.


Subsequently, the family members of the deceased lodged a written complaint at the Matigara police station against Sumit and his family for alleged murder. Based on the complaint, the Matigara police took the accused into custody. Currently, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
