Man accused of murder after wife’s body found in the room in Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar, 13th October: Sensation prevailed in the Basdaha Natibari area under Pundibari police station in Cooch Behar after a man was accused of murdering his wife by suffocating her with a pillow. The deceased has been identified as Rimpa Sarkar (20).


According to reports, two years ago, Rimpa was married to Uttam Mandal, who works as a primary school teacher by profession. After the marriage, Uttam allegedly tortured his wife both physically and mentally. Subsequently, Rimpa shifted to her maternal house. Recently, both Rimpa and her husband were living there.

According to the family members, on Thursday night, the couple went to sleep after dinner. On Friday morning, the family members noticed the door of Rimpa’s room was locked. Later, sensing suspicion, they broke open the door they found Rimpa lying on the bed with a pillow placed on her face. Following the incident, the family claimed that Uttam murdered her and fled from the scene.


Subsequently, the matter was reported to the police. Upon receiving the news, Pundibari police arrived at the spot and recovered the deceased body. Currently, police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the incident.
