Malda, 15th February: In our country, the age-old superstition is hard to die out. Despite several awareness campaigns, many innocent children fall prey to superstitious beliefs.
A shocking incident of superstition surfaced from Alaal, in the Gazole police station area of Malda, where two sick children died after being treated by a folk healer rather than certified doctors. The other two children are undergoing treatment at the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
According to the information, the four children suddenly fainted when they were playing together on Friday evening. Instead of taking them to the hospital, they were taken to a folk healer in the neighboring village. However, the condition of the children began to worsen during the ritual. The family then rushed the children to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
7-year-old Feroz Ali died on the way while 5-year-old Safikul Islam died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The other two children, 3-year-old Sabnam Khatun and 5-year-old Kohinoor Khatun are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
