Siliguri, 31st January: Siliguri Police arrested three members of a fake police gang, on Monday. The arrested accused have been identified as Fateh Ali (46), Sajad Ali (50), Sahil Ali (34). Out of them, one is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and two are residents of Lucknow.
It is to be noted that two incidents surfaced in Siliguri where a man and a woman were deceived by a fake police gang. This raised questions on the security arrangements of the police administration.
During the investigation, the police learned that this is a gang from Lucknow, who are misleading common people by introducing themselves as police officials and officers of various government departments. Yesterday once again this gang reached Siliguri from Lucknow and started duping people as police officials. Upon receiving the information, the IC and the Siliguri Police reached Jalpaimore for Naka checking, during which, a huge amount of cough syrup was recovered from their possession.
Today the police registered this case under the NDPS Act and the accused were presented to the Siliguri court. Considering the intensity of the matter, the court directed an order for the three accused to remain in police custody for 6 days.
