Siliguri, 17th May: In a remarkable display of swift police action and effective use of technology, personnel from Bhakti Nagar Police Station recovered a woman’s lost bag within just 10 minutes after she reported the incident.
According to reports, Usha Chhetri, a resident of Mangpu, had visited a relative’s house in Mallaguri. While returning home by auto-rickshaw, she paid the fare through UPI at the Siliguri Checkpost area.
Shortly after getting down, she realized that she had accidentally left her bag, containing important documents and personal belongings, inside the auto.
Distressed by the situation, she immediately approached Bhakti Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint. Acting promptly, police officials collected the UPI transaction details and launched a technical investigation to trace the auto-rickshaw driver.
Using the payment records, the police successfully identified and located the driver within minutes. The driver was then brought to the police station, where a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the bag in perfect condition. The entire operation was completed within 10 minutes.
After receiving her belongings, Usha Chhetri expressed gratitude to the police for their quick response and humane approach.
The incident has also drawn praise from local residents, who appreciated the efficient use of technology and prompt police action in ensuring public trust and safety.
