Siliguri, 23rd July: A ‘Safe House’ is likely to be set up at Siliguri’s Indoor Stadium to tend asymptomatic COVID-19 patients as well as the ones with no major illness. The information was provided by Siliguri SDO Sumanta Sahay.
As the news surfaced, the locals, on Thursday morning, expressed outrage over the decision and staged a protest outside the stadium premises. They claim that as the stadium does not have proper infrastructure and would cause a lot of inconveniences if turned into a safe house.
While a large police force and SDO Sumanta Sahay reached the spot to tackle the situation, the agitated locals gheraoed the officials and staged demonstrations.
On the other hand, after interacting with the locals, the SDO stated that a 100-bedded safe house including all the infrastructure will be built in Siliguri’s Indoor Stadium soon.
