Locals protested against movement of overloaded dumper trucks in Siliguri’s Ward No. 46

Siliguri, 05th January: On Friday, locals of Siliguri Ward No. 46 staged a protest against the movement of overloaded dumper trucks.


According to reports, the overloaded dumpers laden with sand and stones containing stickers of government projects were allegedly traveling through Champasari Road around 9 p.m. As the dumper truck was overloaded, sand and stones fell on the road. Consequently, pedestrians fall prey to accidents. Despite informing the concerned authorities, no action was undertaken which prompted the locals to stage a protest and halt the dumpers by blocking the road. The protest led to huge traffic congestion in the area.

Upon receiving the news, Ward Councillor Dilip Barman arrived at the spot. Meanwhile, the cops of Pradhan Nagar police station and Junction Traffic Guard arrived and brought the situation under control. Later MVI (Motor Vehicle Inspector) Officer Debarshi Barman also arrived and spoke to the Councillor.
