Locals demand urgent repair for road in Fatapukur which serves as a vital connection to 6 villages

Rajganj, 18th May: Residents of 6 villages are in a state of despair as the only road connecting the villages to Fatapukur is in a dilapidated state. In this regard, the residents have demanded the administration to repair the road before the forthcoming Panchayat polls.

Reportedly, in the area along the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway, there are a number of villages near Saradamani High School, such as Schoolpara, Dangapara, Ashrampara, Natunpara of Fatapukur. Notably, students of Fatapukur’s only high school, including hundreds of students of a primary school, tea workers, businessmen of the area, along with the common citizens of the village travel through the road every day.

According to locals, the road has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time, and during monsoon the potholes get filled with water, turning the road into a temporary pond. Additionally, they stated that the road works were completed firstly, about 8 to 10 years ago. However, within two years, the condition of the road started deteriorating, causing hardships for the citizens to commute.

Speaking in this regard, area Panchayat member, Dayamani Barman, while stressing the importance of the road, said that, the villagers had pleaded to the administration many times in this regard. Further, he stated that, once again he will approach the administration for the benefit of the residents.
