Locals besiege Minister Goutam Deb’s residence demanding ticket for Satyajit Adhikari

Siliguri, 23rd February: With the West Bengal Assembly Election just around the corner, the election fever rises and so does the anxiety of ticket seekers. On Sunday, residents of the Ward No. 40 besieged the residence of the State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb in the College Para area demanding ticket for their Ward Councillor Satyajit Adhikari to contest in the upcoming election. The people reached the Minister’s house with the Trinamool Congress party flags and placards.
After this, the mob reached the residence of Trinamool District President Ranjan Sarkar. While they held talks with Sarkar, the people did not interact with the reporters.

Meanwhile, Minister Goutam Deb described the protest as “not appropriate” and stated that the party strongly condemns such acts. Deb informed that the Ward Councilor will definitely be questioned regarding the matter. “If people have anything to say, then they can come to the party’s office as per rules,” the Minister stated.

On the other hand, Councilor Satyajit Adhikari said that it was not appropriate for the people of Ward No. 40 to besiege the Minister’s house in such a manner. “If the party selects someone else as their candidate then I will support their decision,” the Councilor added.
