Live pangolin rescued and dead pangolin scales recovered in Gajoldoba barrage area, three arrested

Siliguri, 28th May: The forest workers of the Sarugara Range, based on a tip-off, launched operations and rescued a live pangolin. Also, around 1.5 kgs of dead pangolin scales were recovered. Three youths have been arrested in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Amjad Hussain, Sunil Oraon, and Mizanur Rahman. All of them are said to be residents of the Mal sub-division.


According to sources, on Thursday night, the forest workers learned that some wild animals and dead wildlife from Malbazar would be smuggled to Nepal through Siliguri. A search was carried out at the Gajoldoba barrage area under the leadership of Sarugara ranger Sanjay Dutta. Three youths were arrested in the incident. A live pangolin was rescued and 1 kg 500 gms of dead pangolin scales were recovered from their possession. They were produced at the Jalpaiguri court today.
