Live explosives found outside residences of BJP workers in Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar, 11th August: A wave of panic swept through the residents as live explosives were discovered inside a bag placed in front of the residences of two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Khapaidanga Gram Panchayat of Cooch Behar.


According to reports, early on Friday morning, a bag containing live bombs was found in front of the house of Abhijit Sarkar, a BJP worker and candidate from Booth No. 287 in the recent Panchayat elections of Khapaidanga Gram Panchayat. Although Abhijit did not emerge victorious in the elections, his mother stumbled upon the bag hanging at their gate, leading to the shocking discovery of the explosives. The incident left local residents in a state of fear and unease.

Similarly, another incident occurred in front of the residence of Manoj Roy, another BJP worker from Booth No. 288 of the same Gram Panchayat. Manoj had actively participated in the party’s efforts during the Panchayat elections and had faced instances of stone-pelting at his home following the election results. In a parallel incident, a bag filled with live explosives was also found outside his house on the same morning. Reacting to this incident, Manoj Roy demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and stringent punishment for those responsible.


Upon receiving the information, the police from Pundibari police station swiftly arrived at the scene and safely retrieved the explosives. Currently, the police are diligently conducting an investigation to ascertain the individuals behind these incidents.
