Lipi Roy gets special place in India Book of Records for educating underprivileged children

Rajganj, 15th July: Lipi Roy from Rajganj acquired a special place in the India Book of Records for educating underprivileged children and also for opening a free-of-cost school for them.


Lipi Roy, the eldest daughter of Nilkanta Roy, is a resident of the Chandarbari area in Panikauri region of ​​Rajganj block. With an aim to educate helpless children, she opened a school called ‘Shikshalay’ in 2018. At present, more than three hundred boys and girls study in this school.

After passing secondary and higher secondary from Rajganj Mahendranath High School, Lipi Roy graduated from Rajganj College in 2014. Following which, she completed her Masters in English from North Bengal University in 2017.


At present, Lipi is a teacher at Siliguri Hindi High School. She also gives free tuition to a few needy students. After visiting their locality, she found out that many children are being a victim of bad influence due to lack of education and inadequate infrastructure. Hence, she took the initiative to educate the underprivileged.

With the assistance of the local councillor, Lipi started a school called ‘Shikshalay’ in Santoshinagar, Siliguri. Apart from providing free tuition, she also arranges free food, clothing, and health services on weekends. Lipi was awarded by the India Book of Records for her incredible work.
