Left protests in support of secularism on Gandhi’s 74th death anniversary

Siliguri, 30th January: On the 74th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Darjeeling District Left Front laid a wreath on the statue of Gandhi and demonstrated a protest. 


Left leaders including Ashok Bhattacharya, Jibesh Sarkar and others garlanded Gandhi’s statue and paid tribute to him. An hour-long dharna aiming to defend secularism was staged. 

Speaking on the event, Ashok Bhattacharya said that Martyrs’ Day is being observed all over the country today, on the death anniversary of one of the founding fathers of the Indian republic, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Likewise, the party is also celebrating the occasion.
