Land grabbing allegation raised against BJP leader in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th May: A land grabbing allegation has surfaced from Baghajatin Colony under Ward No. 02 of Siliguri, creating local tension. A resident has accused BJP leader Pradip Chowdhury, who is reportedly the party’s Siliguri secretary, of illegally occupying land.

At a press conference held at the Siliguri Journalists’ Club on Thursday, local resident Subarna Saha alleged that in 2012 her family’s land was leased to Pradip Chowdhury for 11 months for business purposes, under a formal agreement between both parties.

She further alleged that even after the lease period expired, the land was not vacated. Instead, fake documents were allegedly created to retain possession of the property.

Subarna Saha also claimed that she and her family were threatened whenever they tried to protest the matter. The dispute has now reached court, with both parties reportedly initiating legal proceedings. She also stated that the matter has been brought to MLA Shankar Ghosh, who assured that it would be looked into.

However, BJP leader Pradip Chowdhury has strongly denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated. He stated that he is being targeted because of his association with the BJP after the change in government and said he would take legal action against the complainants.

The incident has triggered political tension in the area, with the land dispute becoming a subject of local discussion.
