Kolkata’s cyber team arrested a person from Siliguri for scamming

Siliguri, 02nd September: The cyber team of Lal Gola Police Station of Kolkata has arrested a person hailing from the Milan Pally area of Siliguri for scamming people in the pretext of providing admission to a medical college. The alleged accused has been identified as Sumant Gupta. 


Reportedly, it is alleged that Sumant Gupta took Rs 03 lakhs from a student of Kolkata on the pretext of giving admission to the medical college of Kishanganj in Bihar. It is being told that even after taking the money, the young student did not get admission to the said medical college. After which the student lodged a complaint at the Lal Gola Cyber Police Station, Kolkata in 2020.

After which the team of Lal Gola Cyber Police Station started investigating the matter. After about a year and a half, the cyber team located and arrested Sumant with the help of a mobile location and tip-off from the area from Milan Pally on Thursday. Today, after registering a case against the accused under several sections and presenting in the Siliguri court, the cyber team of Lal Gola Police Station took the accused on transit remand and left for Kolkata.
