Kharibari police arrest two with brown sugar

Siliguri, 24th December: Kharibari police arrested two people, including a woman, with brown sugar during a raid near the Indo-Nepal border. The arrested accused have been identified as Rulekha Khatun, resident of Malda, and Kalyan Roy, resident of Simultala.


Darjeeling district police superintendent Santosh Nimbalkar held a press conference on Friday and said that two kilos of brown sugar were recovered from the Indo-Nepal border. The approximate value of the recovered brown sugar is around one crore rupees. Kharibari police have filed a case against them under NDPS Act. They have been sent to Siliguri court today.

He added that apart from the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, the Darjeeling District Police is also working to build a drug-free society. In the last 3-4 months, more than 80 cases have been filed.
