Jalpaiguri, 20th August: After heavy rainfall, the Nichmath area of Ward No. 1 under Jalpaiguri Municipality has been submerged in water.
It has been learned that Karala river water started entering the residential area on Friday morning. The situation worsened to such an extent that the locals had to take shelter in the river embankment.
The locals alleged that the area is inundated during monsoons every year. No initiative has been taken by the administration yet to solve the issue.
