Jalpaiguri, 16th April: The Union health ministry on Wednesday listed Jalpaiguri district and more 46 districts as ‘Cluster Zones’ for COVID-19. Following the announcement, the Jalpaiguri Municipality Chairman-in-council Saikat Chatterjee, in a letter to the police administration expressed concern over the issue and urged the administration to seal the main five roads of the city.
As per the report, the municipality urged that the five entrance roads of Jalpaiguri i.e. Asha More, Goshal More, Paharpur More, 73 More and Park More should be sealed completely.
Meanwhile, strict police surveillance is also being kept by the Jalpaiguri police in the said areas. On the other hand, the Jalpaiguri municipality has taken initiatives to sanitize the government institutions of the city amid lockdown.
