Siliguri, 16th June: The Jabravita Underpass adjacent to the IOC has been submerged under rainwater for a long time. As no solution has been provided yet, the locals staged a protest today.
The locals alleged that the underpass gets inundated even after light rainfall. They are facing extreme difficulties as the underpass has been waterlogged for the last 15 days. At present, they have to risk their lives and cross the railway line for travelling.
Biswajit Guha, a resident of the area, said that the administration has not taken any action yet. Hence, a protest was staged demanding the drainage system be improved immediately.
It is to be noted, Shikha Chatterjee, MLA of Dabgram-Fulbari Assembly constituency, inspected the submerged underpass last Thursday.
