Siliguri, 10th September: The Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) held a meeting at the Siliguri Junction. Nirjal Dey, President of Darjeeling District INTTUC graced the meeting as the Chief Guest. During the meeting, the ticket counter owners and workers of Siliguri Junction Bus Stand urged for setting up of a permanent location for Siliguri Junction Bus Stand and a license for the ticket counter.
As per reports, during the Puja every year, the Siliguri Junction bus stand is temporarily shifted to Paribahan Nagar in view of the traffic congestion in the city. During this, the passengers faced hardships in their commute. On Sunday, two demands were made during the meeting.
Upon listening to the demands made by the ticket counter owners and workers INTTUC District President Nirjal Dey stated that the demands related to the bus stand would be conveyed to the Unions state President. He added that Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb is also of the opinion to shift the Siliguri Junction bus stand to Himul Cattle Field in Siliguri.
