Indian Tea Workers’ Union issued memorandum to DM in support of various demands

Siliguri, 07th December: The BJP-approved Indian Tea Workers’ Union has not been included in the committee formed for the development of Bengal tea workers. The organization members, on Tuesday, handed over a memorandum to the district magistrate through the SDO, raising several allegations against the state government.

It has been learned that a Participating Advisory Committee was formed to manage the workers in the tea industry. Although CPIM and Trinamool-approved trade unions were included in the committee, the BJP-approved Indian Tea Workers’ Union was left out. Hence, a memorandum was submitted today.

In this regard, the president of the Indian Tea Workers’ Union, Yugal Jha, said that the committee has been formed to give benefits to the employers without considering the workers. He demanded that they be included in the committee immediately.
