Siliguri, 28th July: The Income Tax Department launched extensive search operations at several nursing homes in Siliguri on Tuesday morning, creating a stir among the medical community and across the city.
A special team of Income Tax officials has been conducting a raid at New Ramakrishna Seva Sadan near Pakurtala More since morning. Officials are reportedly examining financial documents, account records, tax-related papers and other important documents of the nursing home.
During the operation, Central forces have been deployed outside the nursing home. According to local sources, authorities are ensuring that emergency medical services remain unaffected during the search.
Apart from New Ramakrishna Seva Sadan, similar Income Tax searches are reportedly underway at several other nursing homes in Siliguri. However, the exact number of establishments covered in the operation has not been officially disclosed.
No Income Tax Department official has commented on the matter so far. The searches are believed to be related to verification of financial transactions, tax records and possible discrepancies in accounts.
