House-break theft shocks Fulbari, wedding fund worth Rs 21 thousand stolen

Fulbari, 14th September: A shocking incident of theft surfaced where thieves targeted the house of a tea store owner and allegedly made off with funds assembled for the wedding of the owner’s granddaughter. The incident occurred in the Paschim Dhantala area located in Fulbari adjacent to Siliguri. The tea store owner Moni Roy is a resident of Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat in Paschim Dhantala.


According to reports, Moni Roy owned a small tea stall in the Fulbari bypass and is survived by her son, grandson, and granddaughter. In an effort to save for her granddaughter’s wedding, she worked hard in her tea business and collected about Rs 21,000. As stated by Moni Roy, she came home after work as usual and went to sleep the previous night. On Thursday morning, to her surprise, she woke up to a damaged roof of the house. She added that the trunk containing the money stored for her granddaughter’s wedding was broken and cash worth Rs 21,000 was missing. The matter has been reported to the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station.
