Hills shut down over bonus demand, CM Banerjee issues strong statement

Bagdogra, 30th September: A 12-hour bandh was called in the hills on Monday, demanding a 20% bonus for tea garden workers. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, speaking at Bagdogra Airport, made a firm statement against the bandh, reiterating that the state government does not endorse bandh politics.

The CM emphasized her opposition to the strike in the hills, noting that a tripartite meeting is currently underway to address the matter. She assured that the issue would be resolved through discussions, clarifying that she would not interfere directly in the process.

After concluding her two-day visit to North Bengal, the Chief Minister departed for Kolkata from Uttar Kanya via Bagdogra Airport.
