Siliguri, 21st April: Pradhan Nagar police arrested a resident of Ravindra Nagar area for allegedly molesting a woman. The arrested has been identified Praveer Barman (48), a high school teacher in Siliguri.
According to police sources, on February 07, the woman and her sister were approached by bike-borne Praveer Barman and one of his friend near Gate No. 02 of the Regulated Market and molested her. Following this, on February 09, the victim filed a written complaint in this regard in Pradhan Nagar police station accusing Praveer Burman of molesting her.
Reportedly, the accused teacher had been absconding after the complaint was lodged. Later, acting on a tip-off, the cops of Pradhan Nagar police station nabbed Praveer Burman last night. Police has registered a case against the accused teacher under sections 341, 354, 509, 506, 34 IPC and presented him in the court today.
It is to be noted, the complainant woman had earlier lodged a complaint against the accused teacher Praveer Burman in the Women Police Station for harassing her. It has been learned that the Burman is a friend of the victim’s husband.
