HHTDN writes to CM regarding Tourist Transport Industry amid pandemic

The Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network on Tuesday wrote to State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in regards to the crisis faced by the transporters of Darjeeling, Kalimpong Hills, Dooars and other parts of North Bengal.


The organization wrote that different tourist taxi associations are facing several issues amid the pandemic. Hence they urged the CM to look into a few points of the Transport Industry.

1. Validity of Fitness, Permits (all types), Driving License, Registration and any other concern document(s) whose extension of validity could not or not likely to be processed due to the lockdown and it has expired since 1st. Feb. 2020, the said documents may kindly be revalidated the period till 31st December 2020.


2. Waiver of 100 % Tax on Motor Vehicles for the “Lock Down” period from 22nd March, 2020 to 31st. July, 2020 (if not extended further). A Waiver till 30th September is our first phase request and will be a great help for the Transport sector of our region completely dependent on Tourist movement.
