Siliguri, 03rd July: Several areas including Shanti Nagar Bow Bazar and Batala adjacent to Eastern Bypass were flooded with water after heavy rain lashed out in Siliguri since late last night.
Waterlogged localities and pedestrians wading through knee-deep or waist-high water were common sights in the city.
According to sources, multiple houses in the low-lying areas were half submerged in the rainwater. Vehicular movement was halted as roads were clogged due to heavy rainfall.
Locals complained that this is not a new scenario. Every year, Siliguri witness water-logging in several parts of the city with the advent of monsoon. With this, the people have started to question the role of Municipal Corporation.
