Siliguri, 21st June: The incessant rainfall since Monday evening left several roads, residential areas, shops and markets inundated in Siliguri. Some parts of the city were flooded with knee to waist-high water causing great inconvenience to the citizens, especially the elderlies and children.
Bidhan Market, Khudiram Pally, Mahabirsthan, and other markets were widely affected by the flood water. Traders suffered losses and damage to properties. About 9-10 feet of water had accumulated in the basement of a shop in Khudiram Pally.
Meanwhile, work of removing the water with the help of pumps has been initiated in several parts of the city since this morning.
