Heatwave scorches Siliguri, school children face inconvenience

Siliguri, 16th July: An unusually early and intense heatwave has disrupted normal life across North Bengal. Citizens are trying different methods to overcome the scorching temperature. In such a bizarre scenario, students are falling sick resulting in fright among the parents. Now the question arises whether the school will provide a break or change the school timings?

Meanwhile, many parents favoured the idea of changing the timings as the schools have recently reopened after their summer vacation. The parents stated that if the timings are scheduled in the morning then it will be beneficial for both parents and students but it is not possible without the approval of the education department.

Guardians also pointed out that the state government announced summer vacations in schools when the weather was hot in South Bengal, while the weather in North Bengal was very pleasant. They sought a solution from the authorities since the North Bengal region is experiencing a heatwave and the summer breaks are over. Apart from this, many parents said that despite the efforts of the school management of installing new fans in the classroom, the number still falls short compared to the number of students in one classroom. Hence they raised the need for some changes in the infrastructure as well.

In this context, the school principals assured that every effort is being taken so that the children do not get sick amind the increasing weather. Apart from this, children are being asked to drink more water.
