Haryana Crime Branch team arrests two dacoits in Siliguri in connection with a robbery case

Siliguri, 21st February: In a recent development, the Haryana Crime Branch team, in collaboration with the undercover cops of Pradhan Nagar Police Station, arrested two dacoits residing in the guise of labourers in Siliguri. The criminals were arrested from Dagapur on Tuesday night. The arrested accused have been identified as Haroon Rashid and Sameer Mohammad.


As per police sources, on February 7, a group of miscreants committed a robbery in a house after taking the inmates hostage in Jagadhri, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. After the incident, a written complaint was filed at the Haryana police station.

Reportedly, a dozen miscreants entered a residence, held the family members hostage at knife point, and looted Rs 9 lakh in cash and 6 tolas of gold. During the investigation based on the complaint, Haryana Police had arrested five members of the dacoit gang from Jamnagar in Delhi. Later, following further investigation, the police learned that two accused involved in the robbery case were hiding in Siliguri.


Subsequently, a team of Haryana Crime Branch arrived in Siliguri on Tuesday and initiated a joint operation with Pradhan Nagar police station and arrested Haroon and Sameer from Dagapur, late at night. On Wednesday, the accused were taken on transit remand after presenting them in Siliguri court.

In this regard, the Haryana Police officials revealed that both the accused were working as daily wage labourers in Siliguri after committing the robbery. Significantly, the criminals were arrested with the help of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police. Currently, seven dacoits have been arrested, while, the search is on to nab other accused involved in the case.
