Guppy fishes released into sewers in Bidhannagar to prevent dengue

Bidhannagar, 08th September: Guppy fishes were released into multiple sewers of the villages under Bidhan Nagar No. 01 Gram Panchayat to combat dengue. The initiative was taken on behalf of the Phansidewa BDO office.


It has been learned that a few days ago, dengue outbreak was reported in several villages of the said Gram Panchayat in Phansidewa block. Today, the workers of the Rural Resources Department visited all the villages to spread awareness about dengue as well as released guppy fish in all sewers and ditches.

In this regard, Sumana Mandal, an animal resource worker of Bidhannagar No. 01 Gram Panchayat, said that in order to prevent dengue, guppy fishes have been released into the sewers. Awareness is also being raised among the people.
