GTA is just a Rs 200 crore tender to buy the Gorkhas: Raju Bista

Siliguri, 24th May: After landing at the Bagdogra Airport from Delhi today, Darjeeling’s MP Raju Bista spoke on several issues while addressing the media. Firstly, he praised the Prime Minister for reducing the price of petrol and diesel. He then addressed the dengue situation in Siliguri and urged the Siliguri Mayor to take necessary actions to contain the outbreak of malaria and dengue in the city.
The MP proceeded to comment on Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) after its election date was announced this afternoon. Bista alleged the GTA to be a mere tender for a few politicians and contractors rather than an actual election process.
“GTA is an unconstitutional body. It neither has any capacity nor does it have any ability to legislate. It is an anti-Gorkha body. It is just a tender of Rs 200 crore to buy the people of Darjeeling Terai and Dooars. People will protest by taking the issue on-road if needed,” Bista asserted. He further added that the GTA election is worse than a college election and will not participate in the process.
