Goutam Deb “allergic” to people calling Baghajatin Park as BJP, appeals to change the abbreviation

Siliguri, 12th November: Baghajatin Park in Siliguri is considered to be the most lively place in the city. It acts as a public ground in the mornings and as the day progresses it transforms into the most cheery place of Siliguri. Numerous roadside vendors put up their stalls selling a variety of food items to the people, mostly youngsters. The park at times is used for public meetings and rallies as it is centrally located. Apparently, many people use the abbreviation ‘BJP’ for Baghajatin Park.

Goutam Deb, the administrator of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, who went to the inauguration of Jagadhatri Puja in College Para on Friday, opposed this and demanded a change in the name.

“Baghajatin Park has been beautified recently. I later came to know that the ‘BJP’ often used by the youngsters does not mean Bharatiya Janata Party, rather Baghajatin Park. I have an allergy to the name BJP. So I will urge all to give a new name to the park,” Deb stated.
