Darjeeling, 17th November: A team of Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists (CPRM) delegation including party president Ratna Bahadur Rai met Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling today.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Rai said the people of Darjeeling Hills, plains and Terai Dooars have numerous problems. And the only solution to those problems is the separate state of Gorkhaland.
The CPRM president stated that the Governor was briefed on various local issues including unemployment in the Hills, providing tribal status to 11 Gorkha communities, during today's meeting.
"Historically, the territory of Darjeeling was never a part of Bengal and the people here have nothing in common with Bengal," RB Rai said. He added that the separate state of Gorkhaland is the "only" solution to all the problems in the Hills.
On the other hand, the Governor also assured the CPRM delegation that he is well aware of the problems of the people and that initiatives are being taken to solve them.
