Siliguri, 25th January: The Ashighar Outpost police have arrested three individuals on charges of gang rape of a girl in Siliguri. The arrested accused have been identified as Sanjay Roy, Gopal Roy, and Durlabh Roy.
As per sources, the girl lives with her father who works as a night guard. As a result, the girl remains alone at the residence at night. Taking advantage of this, five youths allegedly gang-raped the girl on January 20 night. In addition, the criminals threatened her with dire consequences upon disclosing the incident. Out of fear, the victim remained silent regarding the incident.
The following day, three youths repeated the heinous act on the girl once again. However, the area residents learned about the incident, caught hold of the three individuals, and alerted the police. Upon being informed, the police arrived at the spot and transported the three youths to the police station.
Subsequently, the girl’s father lodged a written complaint at the Asighar Police Outpost. Following this, the police registered a case against the three arrested accused on charges of rape, presented them to the court, and took them on a five-day remand.
Currently, the cops of the Ashighar outpost are engaged in the interrogation of the accused on remand. Simultaneously, the police are also on a hunt to nab two more accused involved in the incident.
