Gender and sexual minority raised their voice in support of various demands in Siliguri

Siliguri, 02nd April: Gender and sexual minority people (LGBTQ+) have expressed their displeasure over their long-standing demands.


Reportedly, gender and sexual minorities from eight districts of North Bengal held a press conference at Siliguri Journalists Club, on Friday. During the conference, they have raised their 9-point demands. They opposed various discrimination against them including education, health, civil rights. They informed about the harassment they encounter in various ways in society and expressed the negligence against them during the pandemic period.

LGBTQ+ community demanded that they should be allowed to be represented in political parties also. After the upcoming assembly elections, they will be appealing to the winning party to pay attention to their demands.


In the press meet, it was also stated that manifestos have been issued by various political parties for the election, but not much attention has been given to the gender and sexual minorities. They asserted that their problems should be resolved by meeting the said demands at the earliest.
