Fulbari, 11th September: The family of a youth who drowned in Fulbari Teesta Canal filed a complaint at the police station alleging murder. Following this, the cops of New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station arrested Mrigank’s friend Swapnanil Nandi.
It has to be noted that Mrigank Chowdhury, a resident of Deshbandhu Para went to the Teesta Canal in Fulbari along with his friend Swapnanil on Saturday evening. During this, Mrigank accidentally fell and was washed away by the strong water current. On Monday morning, his body was recovered a few kilometres away from the spot of the incident.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased youth claimed that there were three injury marks on his body and alleged murder. Subsequently, the family filed a written complaint at the NJP Police Station and urged for a detailed investigation. Based on the complaint, NJP Police arrested Swapnanil Nandi. At present, police are engaged in further investigation of the entire incident.
