Jalpaiguri, 25th August: Tea lovers in Jalpaiguri are now paying more for their daily cup of tea as several tea stalls across the city have increased prices following a rise in sugar prices.
Tea prices have gone up by ₹1 at some stalls, while others have increased the price by ₹2 per cup. Shopkeepers claim that sugar prices have reached around ₹70 per kg in the market, increasing the overall cost of preparing tea.
According to tea stall owners, continuing to sell tea at the previous price has become difficult as the cost of ingredients has increased. As a result, they have been forced to revise prices.
The price hike has also affected regular customers, who now have to spend more on their daily cups of tea.
