Siliguri, 02nd June: An absconding fraudster was nabbed by a team of Assam CID in Siliguri. The accused has been identified as Satyanarayan Banerjee alias VK Chaudhary (52).
Reportedly, on 05th September 2014, a complaint regarding a forgery was registered in Assam. While investigating the case, the police arrested many people, however, the mastermind of the racket was absconding. Despite numerous efforts, the police could not trace Chaudhary and so the case was handed over to the Assam CID.
The Assam CID team traced the accused’s phone location in Siliguri during the investigation. A campaign was immediately launched in the located area and the Assam CID arrested the accused from Panitanki Outpost area last night. Reportedly, the man was residing in Siliguri under a different name.
In this regard, Sudip Roy Basunia, government attorney of Siliguri court, said that the Assam CID arrested Satyanarayan Banerjee from Siliguri in a fraud case of 2014. Today, after presenting the accused in the Siliguri court, he has been taken to Assam on transit remand. He will be presented in Guwahati court today itself.
