Siliguri, 22nd June: Pintu Ghosh, the former Congress councillor of Ward No. 07, ditched his party and joined the Trinamool Congress, on Tuesday at a community hall in Burdwan Road. TMC leaders Goutam Deb and Ranjan Sarkar handed over the party flag to Ghosh.
In addition to this, several others from the said ward joined TMC today. On the other hand, BJP leader Kushal Agarwal of Ward No. 11 also joined the party.
It is to be noted, a number of former councillors of the SMC have left their respective parties and have joined the TMC after the conclusion of the state assembly election. A few days ago too, former councillor Seema Saha left Congress and joined TMC. Following which, Rambhajan Mahato, Kamal Agarwal, and Pritikana Biswas left CPIM and joined TMC.
