Siliguri, 31st May: The eagerly awaited First Division League Cum Knockout Football Tournament, organized by Siliguri Mahakma Krida Parishad, kicked off today. However, prior to the commencement of the first match at Siliguri’s Kanchenjunga Stadium, players took a stand against the recent incident of police harassment and arrests of wrestlers in Delhi.
In a symbolic display of solidarity, the players of Ravindra Sangh staged a silent protest against the mistreatment of wrestlers in the national capital. Udayan Das Gupta, Joint Secretary of Ravindra Sangh, highlighted the achievements of athletes who bring glory to the country. He expressed opposition towards the government’s lack of dialogue with players and their concerns.
