First consignment of Covishield vaccine arrives in Bengal

Kolkata, 12th January: The first consignment of COVID-19 vaccines arrived at Kolkata from Pune in a special flight, on Tuesday afternoon.


According to the information, the first consignment sent by Serum Insitute of India (SII) comprises of around 6.89 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines.


The consignment was then transported in two insulated vans from the airport to Central Family Medical Stores in Bagbazar, Kolkata where it is being stored. The vaccines will apparently be dispatched from the depot to various districts on Wednesday.

The first-ever COVID-19 vaccination drive will be launched across the country from January 16.
