Fire engulfs three places in Siliguri on the eve of Diwali, loss worth lakhs of rupees

Siliguri, 13th November: On the eve of Diwali on Sunday night, there were reports of fire at three different locations in Siliguri, including Seth Srilal Market, Mahakal Pally, and Khalpara.


According to reports, the Seth Srilal Market of Siliguri suffered the maximum damage with a loss incurred worth lakhs of rupees. The fire broke out in a store at around 9 p.m. Subsequently, three fire trucks hurried to the scene, as soon as the fire department was alerted. After much effort by fire personnel, the raging inferno was extinguished. However, the cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, a massive fire broke out at a residence located on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Khalpara. It has been reported that the fire emerged after the house’s patio items were inadvertently ignited. However, the fire was brought under control by a team of three fire tenders that rushed to the scene and initiated a dousing operation.


Meanwhile, a doctor’s residence also accidentally caught fire in the Mahakal Pally area. Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb visited all three locations at night and took stock of the situation.
