Siliguri, 04th June: A major accident was averted on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out inside a premium sports lounge and bar located in Planet Mall on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road. The incident occurred between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., when the mall was nearly empty.
Panic spread as smoke and flames were seen billowing from the lounge area, prompting immediate alerts to the fire department and local police. Fire engines arrived swiftly, and personnel began rescue and firefighting operations.
Thick smoke had engulfed the premises, but fortunately, no staff or customers were present at the time, and no casualties have been reported. Firefighters worked diligently to bring the blaze under control.
Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit as the possible cause, though a detailed forensic and technical inquiry is underway to determine the exact reason.
